♕ |[36]| And he unrolled his feathers and rowed him softly home
[VIDEO / OPEN ACTION]
[With some scratching and fluttering the device is switched on to show... a bird! rather precariously perched on the edge of a desk.

He doesn't say anything, just spreads and flutters his wings before resettling and regaining his balance. He pauses there for a moment, chirps, and then leaps airward and heads for the open window.]
[ooc; Open for random action as he flies around, or i guess video responses later, but he can't talk much <333 so action's prolly more interesting. :D alsopleasepretendthiswasearlier <3]

[Neil chides, with a ruffle of his feathers. Feeling mischievous, he drops off his higher perch and swoops down to buzz the cat-- staying just out of paw reach, as far as he can estimate.]
Action!
[video] because Ray is hiding in his flat...

robotkidrobo-kid happens to be looking for at the moment, but it still manages to catch his eye. He's been programmed to be as human-like as a robot can get, but living things--actual living things--still manage to fascinate him a little. And so he slows to a halt, tilting his head a little as he fixes his gaze on it. Hey, he can spare a moment out of his search for his dog to watch this bird, right? Besides, Rush likes to chase birds. Who knows, maybe he'll turn up to harass this one or something.]
[Action]
[Action]
Huh. That's weird...
[Action]
[Action]
Hey, bird. [He whistles a little, imitating some bird call or another.] Acting kinda weird, aren't you?
[Action]
[He can't quite talk, but he can mimic a word or two with a little effort. Starlings are adaptable little beasties.]
[Action]
[Oh, right, and speaking of Beat and the robo-animal menagerie back home...]
Hey, uh, you haven't seen a big dopey robo-mutt around here anywhere, have you?
[Action]
[Action]
[Pause.]
...Are you lost, too?
[Action]
[If a bird can have an air of unconcern, Neil does. A little cautiously-- around here, you never know who bites really-- he flies to a nearer perch. Doesn't seem like a bad kid.]
[Action]
Well, hey, that makes one of us. My dog's lost, and I guess I kinda am, too. [A wince.] Oh, man, Father's gonna disassemble me if he finds out I lost Rush...
[Action]
He'll help you look, for whatever it's worth.]
Action?
Action?
With a low, disapproving whistle he hops into the air and flits to a higher perch. If a bird can glare, this one is, wary.]
Action
Don't want to come down?

[Managing more than one simple word at a time is beyond him, though his comprehension and thought are entirely intact. Too much to translate, perhaps, from a human mind to a bird beak. Nonetheless his chiding tone is unmistakable.]

Out of respect for his friend, the starling doesn't spread his wings (not wanting to put out an eye or anything, obviously.) He does cock his head to one side and look in the direction Todd had been walking with an exaggerated motion, as if to ask where the boy is heading.]
action;
He can guess as to the meaning of the gesture.]
Where am I going?
[He shrugs slightly, the empty shoulder moving a bit more than the other, not wanting to disturb Neil's perch.]
Just walking. It's a commonly held belief that I spend too much time inside.
action;
Birds like having company too, you know.]
